The European cosmetics industry is world leader. However, the EU-law on cosmetics is an example how a piece of legislation can be ¡°ripe¡± for simplification. The EU Cosmetics Directive from 1976 has become a ¡°patchwork¡± of almost 50 amendments without coherent terminology. The Commission has today launched a stakeholder consultation to collect comments, views and suggestions on a future modern regulatory framework for cosmetic products placed on the EU-market.
